Screening for Life

The Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City partnered with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to establish the Screening for Life Program. The overall goal of the program is to reduce breast health barriers, late-stage diagnosis, and death rates among African American women in Oklahoma County. The CDC reports that breast cancer death rates are 40% higher among African American women than other races.

With efforts from our client health navigator and community partners, the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City plan to do our part in helping to overcome breast health barriers and reduce death rates among African American Women in our community by offering free or reduced rate mammograms and diagnostics to qualifying individuals.

The Screening for Life client health navigator assist with:

  • Patient screening assessments and appointments

(Including labs, diagnostic areas, and specialist physicians)

  • Health counseling
  • Resources and assistance from health providers
  • Access to clinical and supportive care services (e.g. transportation, referrals)
